A meeting of Beetley Parish Council was held on Thursday 12 May 2016 at Beetley Village Hall. There were present seven Parish Councillors one of whom, Councillor R Richmond, is also the District Councillor for Beetley Parish, County Councillor M Kiddle Morris, District Councillor R Duffield and two parishioners.
Election of Chairman and Vice-Chairman. Councillor Baldwin was re-elected Chairman of the Parish Council for the ensuing year and Councillor O’Donovan Vice- Chairman.
Planning. Applications. The Parish Council objected to the change of use of workshop at the Woad Centre Rawhall Lane to residential. This building is outside the settlement boundary and felt it was inappropriate to convert this building into residential. Decisions. Permission had been granted by Breckland Council for the application for the extension to the front of the garage and conversion to residential use and associated alterations at 31 Elmham Road, and to erect a lobby, pitched roof to garage and demolish conservatory and erect new extension at Beechbeck River Lane East Bilney, and to the first floor rear extension, enlarge porch & rear single storey extension at 42 Beech Road. Norfolk County Council had granted permission for the application for retrospective use of a site cabin as an office and mess facility at East Bilney Quarry Rawhall Lane.
Bus Service. Full details of this will appear in a separate section of the Beetley Buzz.
Highways. Norfolk County Council is to be informed of the lack of a GIVE WAY sign at the junction of Sorrel Lane and Church Road Old Beetley which parishioners have complained that vehicles are not slowing at this point. The missing footpath posts off Field Lane will be reported. Norfolk County Council will also be contacted about several junctions that need the verges trimming because of visibility problems. The Clerk had again contacted the Highways Department to have the footpath re-instated at the east end of River Lane East Bilney
Beetley River Meadows. The Parish Council is purchasing signs stating that dogs are not permitted in the Play Area and requesting that visitors use the bins for depositing their rubbish and not leaving it on the ground. The Parish Council is disappointed that there has been an increase in the litter left in the Play Areas and requests that all users of the area place their litter in the bins provided. The Chairman will contact the contractor for the grass cutting to ensure that all paths are cut to the correct width and all are cut.
Beetley Common. The Parish Council approved the crossing rights for Roosting Hill Trout Fishery on the same terms as in previous years.
Pavilion. Following a meeting with the cricket and football clubs a price is to be obtained to undertake the work that has been requested. This may not all be achievable in one year but a start will be made this year.
Meetings. The next meeting of Beetley Parish Council will be held on Thursday 2 June 2016 at 7.30 p.m. at the Village Hall, Beetley.
