A meeting of Beetley Parish Council was held on Thursday 7 July 2016 at Beetley Village Hall. There were present six Parish Councillors one of whom, Councillor R Richmond, is also the District Councillor for Beetley Parish, County Councillor M Kiddle Morris, and one member of the public.

Planning. Applications. The Parish Council raised no objection to the 3 bay detached garage with workshop above at Blueberry Hill Halfpenny Lane or to remove flat roof and erect hipped roof over, install new window to en-suite & minor alterations at Shillingstone Church Road.

Decisions. The erection of dwelling and garage on the Garden Plot Adjacent Highfield Farm Church Road East Bilney had been refused permission by Breckland Council. The change of use of workshop (B1c) at the Woad Centre to Residential (C3) had been withdrawn. Appeals. The applicant for the residential development to the rear of 12 Beetley Grange had appealed against the decision by Breckland Council to refuse permission. The Parish Council will reiterate its objections to the application.

Bus Service. The new bus services in Old Beetley and East Bilney both commenced in June. Several parishioners have already made use of these services but the Parish Council can only state again that if you can use these services which are on a trial basis please do so as if it is not used then the Parish will lose it.

Beetley River Meadows. A resident had kindly offered to collect rubbish from the play area on a regular basis to ensure that this is fit to use. The Parish Council is extremely grateful for this offer which it has gratefully accepted. The Parish Council was disappointed that there appeared to have been no cutting to the area throughout June. The contract is to cut the area fort- nightly. As the grass had grown so much over the month this has meant that the area does not look as tidy as it has in the past. The contractor has been contacted and it is hoped over the summer holidays the state of the area will improve.

Pavilion. A quotation had been received for the repairs and improvements to the pavilion and this will be discussed at the September meeting and a decision made.

East Bilney Town Lands. The area had been cut but it was decided to have another swathe of the area cut over the next two months.

Footpaths. The Parish Council is contacting Norfolk County Council to ensure that all footpaths that are on the definitive map are accessible to the public. The Parish Council is to write and thank the landowners who are always diligent and ensure that the paths that cross their land are accessible.
