Extract November 2016

Extract for November 2016

A meeting of Beetley Parish Council was held on Thursday 3 November 2016 at Beetley Village Hall.
There were present six Parish Councillors one of whom, Councillor R Richmond, is also the District Councillor for Beetley Parish and 2 members of the public.
Planning. Applications. There were no planning applications to consider. Decisions. Permission had been granted for the all weather riding arena and fencing on Paddock A-20 by 40 metres for private use at Hall Farm Fakenham Road East Bilney.
Faster Broadband. A new fibre cabinet had been installed on Fakenham Road Beetley. This cabinet serves properties in Beetley along Fakenham Road, High House Road, Halfpenny Lane, Bittering Street, Church Lane, Old Beetley and East Bilney. Whilst the cabinet has been installed it may be another 12 months before it is operational.
Bus Service in East Bilney. Unfortunately this has not been supported well enough for the service to continue. The Parish Council is now discussing with Norfolk county Council whether an alternative form of bus service can be provided. The service provided in Old Beetley has proved very successful.
Footpaths. Some of the footpaths have now been cut and it now transpires that the cutting contract was let but then had to be withdrawn. This happened at the height of the growing season which exacerbated the problem. A new contract has been let which, hopefully, will improve the cutting of several footpaths.
County Councillor Report. The County Councillor reported a decision as to whether to continue with devolution will be made at the Council meeting on 21 November. The Council Tax is likely to be increased by 3.8% which is 2% for Adult Social Services and 1.8% allowed by the Government. District Councillor Report.
The District Councillor reported that the consultation on the Local Plan has now closed. The problems of traffic in Dereham does not appear to have been addressed with the Local Plan and the additional houses now planned will only make the congestion worse.
Defibrillator. This was considered again but no definite site has been found for it as this needs to be central and to have power available.
Beetley Meadows. It was agreed not to cut the large field this year. The replacement dog bin has been ordered and should be installed within the next month. The picnic benches which have twisted have been reported to the manufacturer.

Meetings. The next meeting of Beetley Parish Council will be held on Thursday 1 December 2016 at 7.30 p.m. at the Village Hall, Beetley. Planning applications are available for viewing from 7.15 p.m. Minutes.  The full minutes are available for viewing on the Beetley Parish website, beetleypc.norfolkparishes.gov.uk, or by contacting the Clerk on 01362 861112 or bryan.leigh@btinternet.com.
