A meeting of Beetley Parish Council was held on Wednesday 11 January 2017 at Beetley Village Hall. There were present six Parish Councillors one of whom, Councillor R Richmond, is also the District Councillor for Beetley Parish and 8 members of the public.
Planning. Applications. The Parish Council objected to the erection of dwelling and garage at Ferndale The Drift East Bilney as this is outside the settlement boundary and is not a natural infill as stated in the application. The Parish Council also objected to the revised application for a dwelling and garage on the Garden Plot adjacent to Highfield Farm Church Road East Bilney as there was no material difference from the original. No objection was raised to the application for an oak framed garage at Hillside, Fakenham Road, East Bilney or the variation to the restoration at Stanfield Quarry.
A meeting of Beetley Parish Council was held on Thursday 2 February 2017 at Beetley Village Hall. There were present seven Parish Councillors one of whom, Councillor R Richmond, is also the District Councillor for Beetley Parish, County Councillor M Kiddle Morris and 15 members of the public.
Planning. Applications. The Parish Council objected to the application for a residential development of 8 houses on land adjacent to 78 Fakenham Road. Whilst the Parish Council has no objection in principle to development on this land at this time it is still outside the settlement boundary. The members also did not like the design for the development with an additional 7 entrances onto Fakenham Road and felt that the development should make use of the whole site by positioning the dwellings further back from the road. The members raised no objection to the application for a Certificate of Lawfulness for garden land at White Mill Green Lane. Decisions. Breckland Council had refused permission for the erection of dwelling and garage at Ferndale House The Drift East Bilney. Permission had been granted for the oak framed garage at Hillside Fakenham Road. The application for a dwelling and garage on the Garden Plot adjacent to Highfield Farm Church Road East Bilney had been withdrawn.
Bus Service in East Bilney. The new bus service for East Bilney commenced on 10 January. This is a minibus shuttle which connects with the 21 service to Dereham leaving East Bilney at 1012 on a Tuesday and returning from Dereham at 1230.
County Councillor Report. The County Councillor reported that the budget for Norfolk County Council will be ratified at a meeting on 20 February. It is likely that the Council Tax will increase by 4.8% which is 3% for Adult Social Care and a 1.8% increase to cover additional costs as the grants from Central Government are being reduced.
District Councillor Report. The District Councillor reported that the Council tax will be announced on 23 February. Breckland Council is still committed to a low Council Tax by utilising income from property and expanding this portfolio.
Broadband. A new fibre cabinet is to be installed in East Bilney in the next 12 months. It is hoped that this will improve the service to properties which are distant from the exchange in Beetley.
Defibrillator. It is hoped that one can be fitted at the Village Hall and discussions will take place with the management committee to have this installed.
Footpaths. A complaint had been received regarding the riding of bicycles and horse along a footpath. Norfolk County council had been contacted and is considering whether better signage could be installed as the kissing gates to stop this type of traffic have been removed.
