A meeting of Beetley Parish Council was held on Thursday 24 August 2017 at Beetley Village Hall. There were present five Parish Councillors one of whom, Councillor R Richmond, is also the District Councillor for Beetley Parish.

Planning. Applications. The Parish Council had made no comment to the application to replace front flat roof dormer with three pitched dormers add rear dormer and single storey side extension at 65 Fakenham Road as this was a resubmission of a previous application which had expired. The Parish Council had raised no objection to the original application. The Parish Council raised no objection to the application to vary condition 3 on 3PL/2008/0811/F to allow additional goods to be sold at Beetley Nurseries Elmham Road. Decisions. Permission had been granted by Breckland Council for the proposed single storey front extension at 13 Beech Road, for the front extension to the dwelling at 51 Elmham Road, for the variation of condition to vary the design at Woad Barn Rawhall Lane and for the application to replace front flat roof dormer with three pitched dormers add rear dormer and single storey side extension at 65 Fakenham Road.

There were present six Parish Councillors one of whom, Councillor R Richmond, is also the District Councillor for Beetley Parish, County Councillor M Kiddle Morris, District Councillor R Duffield and six members of the public.

Planning. Applications. The Parish Council raised no objection to the application to convert existing outbuilding into habitable space inc small kitchen, bathroom and bedroom/ living area, all alterations to be internal, exterior to remain the same at Swanhaven Fakenham Road East Bilney provided that a condition is placed on any permission that the annex is not sold as a separate entity or is used as a holiday let. No objection was also raised to the side and rear extension to form attached annexe at 1 High House Road. Decisions. Permission had been granted to allow the main residence to be let on a short term basis at High View Elmham Road.

Local Plan. The Parish Council is to respond to the latest consultation stating that it does not believe that the document is sound as despite several requests a parcel of land had not been included in the Local Plan and the settlement boundary had not been amended as requested.

County Councillor Report. The County Councillor reported that the Minerals and Waste Local Plan call for sites had finished on 4 August and he will forward the sites put in as soon as these are received. The County Council will commence its budget setting in October and it is likely to have to find a further £100 million of savings.

District Councillor Report. District Councillor Duffield reported that the Local Plan is out for consultation and he has doubts as to whether this is sound and that as there is not a five year housing supply in Breckland sites will be granted permission that have not been allocated in the plan.
